What started as a way of exploring the gap between Hip Hop and EDM turned out to be a successful concept at the Jimmy Woo nightclub in Amsterdam, and developed into one of the most surprising and refreshing DJ projects the world has seen in a while. A big part of Yellow Claw's success is made up of all-round skills, audience interaction, music videos, a clothing line, their own record label and a sound that crosses boundaries and mixes up genres. It's become a signature sound that has led to collaborations with great artists as diverse as Diplo, Flux Pavilion, Skrillex, Waka Flocka Flame, Pusha T, Martin Garrix, DJ Mustard, Ty Dolla $ign and Ti?sto.
In 2014 Yellow Claw toured around the globe, playing primetime gigs on the biggest stages like EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland and Mysteryland. During an ever growing gig schedule they managed to set up a fast selling apparel line in cooperation with streetwear label Daily Paper called Blood For Mercy. The Barong Family record label was inaugurated in May of 2014. Playing alongside Skrillex and Diplo's Jack ? at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve was probably the best way to end the year.
With that being said, 2015 turned out even more successful on the global festival circuit. Yellow Claw were hitting stages at the speed of a heartbeat. They kicked off the year at Future Music Festival in various Australian cities, followed by all spring breakers' beloved Ultra Music Festival in Miami and California's annual trend-setting Coachella. For the ultimate summer celebration, they joined Spring Awakening in Chicago and EDC Las Vegas. Back in Europe, Yellow Claw hosted huge stages at Amsterdam's Kingsday Festival and at Tomorrowland, where they stole the show together with the other Barong Family artists and made everyone go wild. Besides the busy festival schedule, Yellow Claw had a successfull residency at the Wynn Las Vegas and produced a lot of new tracks.
In November they delivered their highly anticipated and sharp sounding full-length debut album Blood For Mercy on Mad Decent, followed by a massive US tour. Featuring many big name guest appearances, it went straight to #1 on Billboard's Heatseeker Albums as well as Top Dance/Electronic Albums charts, and also reached #3 on Beatport.
In 2016, Blood For Mercy won the Edison award (Dutch equivalent of the Grammys) for dance music in the Netherlands. The single In My Room , made in partnership with DJ Mustard and featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga has so far clocked almost 7 million views on YouTube and over 72 million streams on Spotify (not counting remixes). After EDC Las Vegas in June, Yellow Claw's longtime MC, Bizzey, left the group to spend more time with his wife and young son. Jim and Nils continue together, busy as ever, both on stage and in the studio.
