Live For Live Music Presents:
The Motet Mixtape 1979 at The Orange Peel
w/ The Congress
Acclaimed 7-piece funk ensemble The Motet is bringing their special Halloween cover show tradition to the Orange Peel with Mixtape 1979 on Halloween night! Get your costume ready - we recommend bellbottoms and platform-boots, because this Monday night it's on! The setlist will include the band's picks from across genres, all from 1979 and with The Motet's signature funky spin.
Said band vocalist Lyle Divinsky about this year's selection of playlist, We were looking into artists that we really dig and really want to play, seeing what albums they had out in different years. So we played around with a couple different years before we decided on 1979...it was just a no-brainer. Like Earth, Wind, & Fire’s I Am came out that year, and that’s one of my favorite(s). Michael Jackson, Off The Wall, Prince’s self-titled record. And Herbie Hancock had two records. George Duke had two records. Some of the songs we’re doing are songs that everybody’s gonna know, and everybody’s gonna get down on and appreciate. But also we went digging for...some b-sides from some of the crushing albums that came out in that year.
It's going to be a huge, funk-filled Asheville Halloween party! Don't miss it!
