One of the most influential and longstanding voices in Soul performs his new album in a double-bill which celebrates the original spirit of the genre, with a special guest to be announced.
Credited with helping shape the sound of Stax Records – the Soul institution that gave us Otis Redding, The Staple Singers and Isaac Hayes, a resurgent William Bell is back on the label with his new album This is Where I Live. At 77, his voice is still as smooth and effortless as on those first hits such as ‘I Forgot to be Your Lover’ and ‘You Don’t Miss Your Water’. With new material alongside re-recordings of his vintage classics such as ‘Born Under a Bad Sign’ and 'Private Number', he retains the power of the original Stax identity in a recording which is refreshingly contemporary.
Adding his own distinctive voice to the William Bell's timeless Soul sound, Tony Momrelle has built a reputation as one of this country’s most assured singer/songwriters, as at home with Jazz and Gospel music as he is with classic R’n’B grooves. A long association with Incognito, as well as working with Sade, Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston and Urban Gospel group Seven, he now focuses on his own music in an opening set featuring music from his chart-topping 2015 album Keep Pushing, just re-released with three brand new tracks, and featured on Later with Jools Holland.
