The Hifi Club & SET IT OFF are proud to present:
featuring DJ PUMP, HEDSPIN & DOPEY w/ Set It Off crew.
Dj Hedspin (Thre3Style World Champion, Toronto)
The many places you may have heard DJ Hedspin’s sound include: his work in Vancouver’s club scene; his edits and remixes spun by peers around the globe; his mix shows featured on Toronto's Flow 93.5, LA's Power 106 and Wild 94.9 in San Francisco; or you may have downloaded “Mobbin”, his single with Grandtheft on Mad Decent that made the iTunes dance chart Top 10.
And then there's the matter of his spectacular winning set at the 2011 Red Bull Thre3style World Championship. During a live showcase - whether in the U.S., Europe, Asia and soon South America - Hedspin flexes musicality, technicality and aggressive delivery as he keeps the crowd moving in a way that only a world champion can. More than a DJ, Hedspin is a true performer, and the chance to catch him is an occasion.
Dj Dopey (DMC World Champion, Toronto)
As a founding member of the Turntable Monkz, and a certified world champion (2003 DMC World Champion), DJ Dopey (born Jon Ryan Santiago) took the opportunity to tour the world a few times over sharing stages with artists such as Eminem, Hedley, Slum Village, Nelly Furtado, Kardinal Offishall, Dragonette, Steve Aoki and DJ’d for Dead Celebrity Status. He continues his globetrotting by carrying out his seasoned successes as a key group member of Notes to Self, a rap crew from Toronto. Dopey’s found time to be an integral part of their creative process, spending much of his free time off tour in the studio with Notes writing and recording, contributing a few years worth of hard work and successfully releasing two albums. As one of Canada’s premiere DJ talents, Dopey was also an integral part of the Gemini Award winning TV show MTV Live.
In his 10 years as a DJ/Turntablist, Dopey has accomplished a great deal; he has “battled” his way to the top, he’s performed alongside the world’s best DJ’s and musicians, and has now taken to the studio portion of being an artist where he now perfects his recorded arts. Dopey is now poised to help present the world to Notes to Self, a rap group that will finally help realize his first official recorded contribution as a commercial release on their debut full-length. DJ Dopey is a rare and humbled talent that will continue to push the limits, not just as a DJ but as a recording artist as well.
DJ PUMP (DMC + ITF Canadian Champion, YYC)
Before technology brought the art of DJing to the masses, DJs were an elite group who had the dedication and determination to master it’s technical intricacies, and the skills and style to grab the world's attention before the days of YouTube, SoundCloud and even the Internet. DJ Pump is one of the lasting members of that group, and for over 20 years has been bringing his unique brand of party-rocking to lucky audiences around the globe.
Though he first gained notoriety as one of Canada’s top turntablists, grabbing both the DMC and ITF national crowns and other top DJ awards, Pump has since continued to prove that he’s about more than just impressive tricks. In fact, he effortlessly balances all of the qualities that make a world-class DJ: he’ll empower you to discover new music while helping you to remember the old, playing even the most classic joints in ways you’ve never heard before; he’ll seamlessly blend genres from hip-hop to funk, trap to soul, and disco to house in one evening without ever skipping a beat; and he’ll do it all with the same unmatched flair that has earned him the respect of his peers around the world as one of the best in the game and one of Canada’s DJ crown jewels.
Over the years, Pump has shared the stage with the likes of A-Trak, Diplo, DJ AM, Grandtheft, Keys N Krates, J Rocc, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Public Enemy and Snoop Dogg, among others. When he’s not keeping dance floors moving behind the decks, he is also an accomplished producer, known especially in the DJ community for his edits and remixes that bring some of that unmistakeable DJ Pump flavour to any set.
In a world where the DJ has become a dime a dozen, Pump is as real as it gets. Whether rocking the world’s biggest clubs or its most intimate hidden gems, his sets are an experience that you won't forget.
