The string quartet may be a 250-year-old contraption, but young, brilliant groups like the JACK Quartet are keeping it thrillingly vital. Described as “superheroes of the new music world” (The Boston Globe), New York based JACK have toured the world, collecting countless awards on their travels.
JACK’s performances are considered amongst the most stimulating new-music concerts around; fearless, explosive, virtuosic, and groundbreaking.
Comprising violinists Christopher Otto and Austin Wulliman, violist John Pickford Richards, and cellist Kevin McFarland, JACK is focused on the commissioning, performance, and spread of new string quartet music. The programme will feature works by three award winning American contemporary composers, along with a work composed for JACK by the late Belfast based composer, Peter Rosser, which was premiered in Belfast in 2012.
Note Productions & Moving On Music are delighted to welcome back JACK Quartet on a tour of Ireland for what will be a series of stunning new music performances.
