||| J Cush
Growing up in both London and New York, J-Cush founded Lit City Trax in 2012 as part rave night, part record label. J-Cush originally partnered with the late DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn's GhettoTeknitianz, soon to become Teklife. Lit City Trax has gone on to release critically acclaimed underground club music from across the continents.
His sets tightly weave the best in Rap, Grime, Jersey Club, Kuduro, Ghetto House, Garage, Footwork, Gqom, Kwaito, Baile Funk and other genres of club music.
His prime-time weekly slot on Rinse FM showcases an amazing variety in dubplates past, present and future as well the best in new urban music whether Rap, RnB or Grime and frequently features guest vocalists and DJs.
J-Cush is also a member of the Warp signed DJ/producer supergroup , Future Brown, with Nguzunguzu and Fatima Al Qadiri. Now residing in London, J-Cush is the official DJ for the legendary Grime outfit, Newham Generals, with veterans D Double E & Footsie.
Erik Spanne, aka Drippin, is a young beatmaker with a flair for unique and compelling takes on club music of all types — eerie, erogenous, and evocative. Based in Norway, he produces duly icy riddims, drawing inspiration from hip-hop, kuduro, grime and dancehall, flexing his chops across a spectrum of tempos.
Recently, Spanne’s scintillating sounds have seeped out of Scandinavia, and into sets by some of the planet’s most forward-thinking dance music producers, including Fatima Al Qadiri, Nguzunguzu, J-Cush, Visionist, Slimzee, Evian Christ, Cashmere Cat, and Sinjin Hawke. The FADER calls Drippin’s sound a fusion of “nitrous oxide-pressurized jersey club, larger-than-large 808s, and crystalline grime melodies.”
Silver Cloak, his debut solo EP on the New York based label Lit City Trax, is drawing from a cinematic palette of textures and hybrid club compositions, part organic and part machine. Spanne’s sounds are often stark and metallic, rooted by a confident rhythm, reminiscent of a shiny sci-fi blockbuster’s soundtrack.
With an impending collaborative EP with T_A_M, Four Hex , impending on Lit City Trax, in early 2017, from one of London's most anticipated producers, Tarquin will be inside this edition of London's Lit City Rave.
