Bright At Night
Athens' local brothers, Emerson and Seeder have finally put their vision into action upon Emerson's return to his hometown after many years of travelling, living and performing as a solo artist in towns and cities along the east coast. Places like Ithaca, Ny, Philadelphia and Manhattan diversified his midwest musical roots and background. The reunion and gumption of the bros immediately sparked support from fellow musicians and venues in the community. With this all original and occasionally improvisational spawning of tunes that range from blues, soul, and hip hop to ska, folk, and funk, Bright At Night has collected a fan base as eclectic as their sound. Influences have come from extremes in the spectrum along paths with George Clinton, Tom Waits, Marvin Gaye, The Doors, Johnny Cash and Lauryn Hill, all the way to Christopher Walken. Emerson captivates the audience with his vocal range, bouncing stage presence and percussive strumming of his acoustic guitar. Seeder keeps the low end tight, smooth and nasty on his 5 string bass. Holding down the beat from the pocket to the disco, the one and only Andy Parsons. Last but not least, the man of many expressions, the heartbreaker, the face melter, Mr. Zack Shafer on melody/lead guitar. Make sure you are limber when you arrive for their set, because you won't be able to stop your body from moving.
