DESCRIPTION

The YBR?/DS tour continues down south to Athens, Georgia where we will be hitting the legendary divey Flicker Bar. Three bands for five bucks!

9pm

Deaf Scene is bringing their powerful blend of Post-Rock, Grunge, Progressive Metal, and Jazz-Fusion to the forefront of the Baltimore music scene and on the road across the USA. This ever-evolving instrumental prog-psych three piece has consciously embraced walking a musical road-less-traveled since their inception in 2010. Along the way they have cultivated a dedicated following with their sonically-expansive live performances and their solid studio work. Straddling a gray area between the progressive cacophonies of Tool, ethereal soundscapes of Explosions in the Sky, and the sludgy twinge of Primus, Deaf Scene has forged a sound that is uniquely their own. Dave Fullerton’s effects-laden guitar melodies cascade over thick layers of looped sounds, while Eric Courtney’s intricate bass runs and Brett Schatz’s precise whirlwind of drumming give structure and groove to the chaos. What they’re able to accomplish on stage, as a three-piece band with no vocals, often surprises listeners who have never seen Deaf Scene in concert. The band works together beautifully through seamless sets of original songs, intersected by ambient samples and drones, generating “a sound that you would never imagine could come from three dudes” (89.7 WTMD).

You Bred Raptors? - three piece busking band with the Music Under New York program that has legal permits to perform in the NYC subway system. They are an instrumental, experimental post rock ensemble made up of 8 string bass, cello, drums and two glockenspiels. Recently, the band has performed with Yoko Ono at her One Woman Show at the Museum of Modern Art, played close to 30 cities in 2015, opened to a sold-out show at the Gramercy Theatre, provided soundtrack work for TROMA Pictures, and were featured on Good Day New York, WNYC Radio, in The Economist, The Atlantic Magazine, Strings Magazine and Bass Guitar Magazine. The band has residencies across the boroughs including being a house band at the off-Broadway show “Sleep No More”.

The Orange Constant

The Orange Constant draws influence from many different styles to create a musical experience that is new and unique. The Orange Constant thrives on creating songs that differ from one another and possess their own inspired character. Fans are often drawn to their ability to meld progressive composition and improvisation with a pop-like sensibility. The band consists of Andrew Brantley (guitar/vocal/keyboard), Lee Guentert (drums), Nickalous Benson (guitar/vocal), and Tyler Walker (bass/vocal).
