The Shebeen will be a night of funk, soul, afrobeat, old school High life, all on vinyl. The night will capture the essence of Fela Kuti's famous shrine in Lagos: Kalakuta and will remind us of old parties of 1960's post independence Africa, Malick Sidebe photography, the music of Tabu Ley Rochereux of Congo and many other greats of that time.
@slowfirelondon will also be serving up New Orleans style dishes too!
About Grow, Hackney
Carved out of what was once a sausage factory, Grow has been transformed into a unique bar, kitchen and creative space. Hidden in a yard in the heart of Hackney Wick and backing onto the canal, it was built by a small team and is operating as an experiment in ethical and sustainable business. It's a space for music, art, conversation, community and good food where everyone is welcome. www.GrowHackney.co.uk
