Day to day, 9-to-5 drudgery is often the subject of rackety, frustration-laden songs. But it’s rarely captured with as much grace and swaggering to-and-fro as on YOWL’s gigantic new song, ‘Saturday Drag’.
‘Saturday Drag’ goes from dull daytime nothingness to weekend shenanigans, right back to Monday morning’s hellish grip. YOWL sing of how office lights “look like a crack in the fabric of time,” capturing the grim reality so many subscribe to. - DIY
PORRIDGE RADIO (live)

In the first minute of Porridge Radio’s excellent new album, they throw out golden lyrics like “I stumble out of bed confused and upset that the world exists, and so do I”, “that’s when I google ‘I have no imagination’” and “I’m sorry that I told you that you’re boring me.” So much sass, story and sarcasm are crammed into the group’s brutally raw, upfront new album ‘Rice, Pasta and Other Fillers’.
Across these ten tracks (one of which is a Daniel Johnston cover), Porridge Radio combine occasional moments of earnestness with did-i-just-hear-that lyrics and freakout musicianship. “I can’t make you feel,” they claim on ‘Danish Pastry Lyrics’, but that’s a fib. It’s impossible to feel nothing from these songs. So much of this music sounds spontaneous, to the point where it relies on spur-of-the-moment intuition and boundless energy to get by. It’s a feeling that translates. - DIY
BRUNCH (live)

London’s garage rock collective brunch is by no means a favorite weekend meal for basic bitches. Comprised of Sean Brook, Bobby MacPherson, Adrian McCusker and Tom Rundell, the foursome recently also announced second single “Slugs of Trust”.
Electric guitar hits hard from the beginning, crashing cymbals adding to the chaotic feeling of the song. Vocals wail, slightly off-pitch in a quirky and endearing way. Everything about this song screams rock n’ roll, right down to its tempo changes, the focus on the instrumentals, and the intense amount of reverb that comes packaged in this strong and fun cacophony of sound. - Impose Magazine
