We're really excited to announce that we're partnering up with Snowbombing and will be hosting a stage at the festival next year. To round off what's been an amazing year in Leeds, we'll be throwing a warm up party with them on Friday the 9th of December. In the Basement we will be joined by New York legend Levon Vincent and one of Australia's finest selectors, Francis Inferno Orchestra. In the Red Room, we are very thrilled to play host to the Leeds leg of the inaugural Sulta Selects tour, with Glaswegian man-of-the-moment Denis Sulta and esteemed label head honchos Dixon Avenue Basement Jams.

When it comes to house music there's been something of a renaissance in New York City these past few years, and one of its main advocates is Levon Vincent. Born in Houston, Texas and raised on the East Coast; he now calls Berlin his home. From a close alliance with the NYC music community bridged via Halcyon Records, Levon founded Deconstruct with Antony Parasole as well as his own label Novel Sound. After sustaining a back injury in New York, Levon decamped to Indiana early in 2009 to focus his energies on music, after the usual run of odd jobs that never amounted to much in the way of health insurance. The injury, as Vincent will admit, though, was a blessing in disguise. Without any distractions in Indiana, he's produced the best work of his career, releasing track after track that bridges the gaps between house, dub and techno in a novel way. Vincent, like the others, has had a long history in New York, but while he made initial forays into the club world, it was only years later that he was able to truly find his own niche, taking the musical lessons he learned when studying at the State University of New York and applying them to the wisdom taken from watching Jus-Ed and others work the floor. As Vincent put it in an interview with Bodytonic, I am a scientist working in the field of ass-shakery. We’re privileged to welcome Levon to Leeds.
Francis Inferno Orchestra is the conductor of a new type of ensemble – made up of rich samples from disco’s back catalogue and an array of raw drum machine rhythms. Coming at house music from down under, his productions join the dots between soul, disco and the sample based music that inspired him as a teenager. The Melbourne based DJ/Producer made the breakthrough to the international scene with ease – and has kept heads spinning with a stream of seriously danceable releases since 2010. Presenting house and techno classics alongside rare oddities from beyond his years, FIOs DJ sets are a low-brow history lesson – respecting the past without being a slave to it. He has grown to become a key figure of Melbourne’s always growing underground dance scene, being invited across the country and further abroad. 2014 saw the release of FIO’s debut album A New Way of Living which was met with great reception and proved just how much talent this unique young artist holds. The same year saw FIO launch Superconscious Records with old friend Fantastic Man, this sits alongside FIO’s other label BBW which has become a sought after series for the functional music supporters.
The name Denis Sulta has stood out in particular over the last 12 months and he is now on the cusp of becoming every house head's new favourite DJ. His early productions on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams oozed cool and came with a rugged dancefloor sensibility. Seductive vocals, fierce basslines and venomous kicks were in abundance on the 'Sulta Selects Vol.1' EP and on his Mister Saturday Night release (as Atlus), he channeled his love for disco and gave it a spanky Scottish edge. One tune however crossed over and become bigger than anyone could have expected. 'It's Only Real' started trickling into sets last summer and in December last year Sulta's breakout tune finally saw release on UK institution and Glasgow-grown label Numbers. Take a banging break-out tune (and some serious EPs to back it out), some outrageous charisma behind the decks and a fistful of Glaswegian pride, and you've got Denis Sulta, one of the most exciting prospects in the game right now.
Label heads Dan Monox & The Wasp launched Dixon Avenue Basement Jams in late 2012 and in since then they have established themselves as one of the most exciting labels in house and techno. The Glasgow based imprint go for a quality over quantity approach and have released show stopping EPs from burgeoning underground talent Marquis Hawkes, Vernon, TX Connect, Denis Sulta, Modini and Jared Wilson. As expert selectors and technical DJs, their mixes have found homes and acclaim on Rinse FM, Boiler Room, XLR8R, Juno Plus as well as rocking the best clubs across UK & Europe. They keep things simple, rugged and real and in their own words they bring you ‘real rockin’ raw shit from the street for the clubs’.
