Future Groove is a rare groove psychedelic jazz funk force to be reckoned with fronted by the international vocal talent that is Helen McDonald. Featuring the astoundingly fresh and compelling grooves of Paul Zimmerman on drums (ex Anthony Joseph and The Spasm Band and Yaaba Funk), superbly dexterous Sue Lynch on tenor sax/flute (Hog Calling with John Edwards and Steve Noble and London Improvisers Orchestra with Adam Bohman), Lesley Booth ( Freda Payne, Gloria Gaynor, Billy Eckstine and Rod Stewart) on bass and Yul Emirali on keys.
18.12 Solo Diarra Band
Solo Diarra is from Burkina Faso in West Africa. He is from a griot family- a family of musicians and storytellers. Solo started to play music at early age, and today he plays different instruments like ngoni, djembe and balafon. Solo Diarra Band is based in Oslo and consists of nine members; to guitarists, drummer, bassist, backing singer, djembe player/talking drum player, piano player and the two lead vocalists Solo and Susanne. The sound of the ngoni and the rhythms from the talking drum, mixed with western band instruments and Susanne`s powerful voice, gives a unique sound to the band. The music has roots from West Africa, mixed with soul, blues and reggae.
