Bud's Collective is a powerful group of pickers from the hills of West Virginia. While their music reflects roots firmly planted in Bluegrass tradition, they do not hesitate to add to it in ways all their own. Playing a tasteful mix of front man Buddy Dunlap's original material and popular hits ranging from Stevie Wonder to Alabama and all points in between, Bud's Collective has been making waves in the music scene since the inception of the group in 2012.
These guys have been playing music together informally for over a decade, and their music speaks of the years spent adapting and blending with one another's styles. Only a few months after the band was formed, Bud's Collective won first place in the DC Bluegrass Union Mid-Atlantic Band Competition. They also competed at the SPBGMA International Band Contest, placing 2nd. They host their own concert series called Bluegrass in the Barn which continues to grow into one of the most popular events in the West Virginia Panhandle, peaking at an audience of 400 after just a year and a half. Bud's Collective has recorded a Live Album and Studio album, both released in spring 2015. They also realeased a Christmas album called Naughty List, which climbed to number 3 on Airplay Direct charts in 2015. What truly sets them apart from the rest, however, is the energy that fills the spaces in which they play - captivating audiences and leaving them wanting more.
The band is made up of front man Buddy Dunlap, a born entertainer, on guitar, lead and harmony vocals; Cody Brown on bass, lead and harmony vocals; and Jack Dunlap on mandolin, lead and harmony vocals.
Cabin Creek was formed with the intent to always remain true to the music. Influenced by the old time string band and bluegrass music they grew up on in the hills of Virginia, David Hall and Travis Ferrell began writing their own original songs. Joined by Blayne Laures and Eric Dzik, Cabin Creek quickly formed their modern and unique sound, developing that early work into the polished tunes they play today. Vowing to never over-process or over-edit their music, Cabin Creek is on a mission to restore some of what has been lost in the new wave of the music industry.
All four members of Cabin Creek have been active musicians for over ten years. Performing for the better part of the last decade as part of various bands. Cabin Creek has developed a professional and engaging stage performance and a real passion for their fans. Mature and relevant lyrics and toe-tapping melodies are hallmarks of the Cabin Creek sound and what has allowed them to build a diverse and loyal fan base.
Their debut album 'Saturday 6', recorded live in Knoxville, Tennessee, was released in August 2014. 'Saturday 6' was crowd funded by Cabin Creek fans and was named one of the Best Albums of 2014 by the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star.
Their WAMA Nominated (Bluegrass Recording, 2015) sophomore effort 'Goodbye Home', released July 2015, displays an even more original and mature sound and features piano, mandolin, four part harmonies, and guitjo. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Mark Reiter and Mike Monseur at Recording Arts and Bias Studios. Jane Roser of That Music Mag said of the album 'Goodbye Home' is is keeping Virginia's musical heritage alive, well and kicking ass.
NOW with their third release, Station Wagon , out and circulating, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this band in 2017!
