Everyone make way for the New Year’s Eve shindig that will top them all, in one of the classiest venues London has to offer. That’s right - Mr Craig Charles rolls up, to celebrate the New Year with his highly acclaimed Funk & Soul Club at Troxy, London on December 31st, and there ain’t nothing in town that will shine brighter!
The BBC radio host and Red Dwarf star has ensured that his Funk & Soul Show will be sharpest and flashiest ticket in town for fans who enjoy listening to the best retro selections that music has to offer! His trunk of Funk has been stuffed to the brim with goodies and he’s ready to unleash a night of supreme swagger on the capital!
Joining him for this big New Year’s Eve gala is a selection of befitting live acts and DJ’s who will be ensuring that the atmosphere in the Troxy will be flying high!
The Correspondents are no strangers to a Craig Charles event – and there’s good reason! We beg to ask if there is an act in the UK whose show is as action packed from start to finish? Their infectious mash up of Jazz, Soul and Dance music, along with their boundless energy, has gained them some of the best live credentials in the UK. Named by The Telegraph as one of the Top 10 acts of Glastonbury in 2010, a burst of endorphins is inevitable when this duo hit the stage.
And just to make use of all that beautiful space on Troxy’s grand stage, Craig has invited 12-piece Hip Hop / Funk orchestra Renegade Brass Band along to get things really toasty! Having established a huge live reputation over the last few years, have playing packed-out shows at venues across the UK, their energy is enough to wipe every cloud from the sky, providing all the fireworks you’ll need at a New Year’s celebration.
DJ duo The Allergies are also in town for the big night. Fresh from dropping new album ‘As We Do Our Thing’ this summer, these guys have been gathering major props for their latest single to drop ‘Rock Rock’. It features the legendary Andy Cooper of Ugly Duckling, who will also be joining them for this evening’s special performance.
Mr Thing formerly of the formidable Hip Hop DJ collective Scratch Perverts is also ready to give it glitter. His Electro, Hip Hop and Funk sets are unrivalled, seeing him awarded the title of DMC UK Champion in 2000. He has performed and toured alongside Jazzy Jeff, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, KRS One and Jehst.
Sir Funk is also on hand, spicing the evening up with an unstoppable collection of feel-good Funk, Soul and Disco classics.
And just to send you flying into 2017, Forgotten Circus will be on hand with live cabaret and circus cheer. Join us for grand scale merry making, and some damn good debauchery – as we wave goodbye to another year, and welcome another with bells on!
