Regan Matthews wears many hats. He co-owns a barbershop in Perth, is a noted photographer and seamlessly moonlights as Soulection and HW&W affiliate, Ta-ku. The authoritative word on lush, seductive beats in 2016, the producer and master remixer is bringing his special live set to Brooklyn Masonic Temple for his first ever headlining US tour!
We’ve loved seeing Ta-ku grow from his infectious beat tapes towards something more alluring – ballads, plush keys and transformative strings. From his in-demand remixes for Banks, Flume and Justin Timberlake to his rawer “Songs To” series, getting the realness from one of Australian’s most innovative creators is inevitable.
This carefully selected venue is the perfect space to be absorbed by the artist’s newer, more involved live performance and sweeping visual arts. The grandiosity of the Masonic Temple coupled with the intense melancholy and romanticism of Ta-ku’s most recent work guarantees an evening of vulnerable emotion.
We may or not be one of the ones in back with tissues…
