►GAUDI (LIVE) FT. EARL 16 & MISS FRITTY◄
Fresh from his sell out tours in the USA, Canada, Japan, India and Europe, legendary dub-electronica reggae pioneer GAUDI is now taking his infectious bass-driven sound to London for this exclusive one-off gig at Hootananny!
A consummate musician and live performer, in his show he plays theremin, minimoog, vocoder, percussion, stylophone, dub sirens and tape-echo manipulation, mixing his live dub vocals through analogue equipment to maximum effect; every live performance is unique and unpredictable in the best possible way as, honouring the traditions of old school dub, he never uses a computer on stage.
For the past three decades GAUDI has been shattering genre barriers, amassing a stunning collection of originals, albums, collaborations and remixes with artists such as: Michael Rose, Horace Andy, Sizzla, Lee Scratch Perry, Bob Marley, Barrington Levy, Desmond Dekker, Michael Franti, Zion Train, The Orb, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Simple Minds, Lamb, Shpongle, Trentemoller, Balkan Beat Box, Deep Forest, Beats Antique, Dub FX, Dub Pistols, Grandmaster Flash, The Beat, Afrika Bambaataa to mention a few.
For this special occasion GAUDI will be joined on stage by vocalists extraordinaire EARL 16 and MISS FRITTY, to create an unforgettable and unique live experience...inna dub stylee! ONE LOVE.
aka Bring Your Own Brass is the impending sucker punch. These sweaty brassophiles are taking over London and you better watch out. Expect the naughtiest noughties mashups, spine-tingling hip hop licks, some tasty latin and tropical flavours, and a generous portion of original bass for your face. Known for inviting some extra-special lip-splitting vocalists on the mic, be warned – this is not for the faint-hearted.
JSTAR escaped a major record label and made classic reggae / hip hop nuggets on limited 7” vinyl - most notably ‘No Diggity’, ‘Tooting Gangsta’, ‘Wooh-star’ which made it into record boxes of international DJs Norman Jay, David Rodigan, Grandmaster Flash, John Peel, Benji B and Diplo.
Nowadays bass culture junky JSTAR does official remixes for the cream of the crop including Mark Ronson, Major Lazer, Madness, DJ Vadim, The Black Seeds and more; DJing globally at MTV after parties, Space (Ibiza) and festivals in the USA, UK, Kenya, India and New Zealand, plus tours with hit vocalist Soom T.
“Jstar is an original don. Early DJ that helped inspire the Major Lazer crew! Bad man!” Diplo
Sound system and party vibes are in their fullest when THE SULTAN is on the 1s and 2s. Firing through reggae / dancehall / funky / garage / grime & dnb at a relentless pace, THE SULTAN has turned heads and ears in his hometown of Bristol, as well as holding residencies in Manchester and London. Also putting out a slew of lively UK club & dancehall refixes, his skills as a DJ have earned him a place in the finals of the British Student DJ Champs, the final of the Outlook Festival mix competition and airtime on Radio 1Xtra & Kiss FM as well as a b2b set with DnB legend Roni Size.
► SELECTA MAD MAX◄
Driven by bass heavy music from all corners of the globe, MAX’s DJ performances showcase dancefloor friendly tracks from his extensive music collection - expect a healthy dose of cumbia, ragga zouk and tropical bass. Adding vocal skills along the way and a bunch of killer dubplates at the ready make his sets one offs.
►CIENFUEGOS (Spaghetti Night)◄
Growing up in the Italian underground reggae, dancehall and dub scene, CIENFUEGOS mixes an energetic blend of roots reggae, hip hop, dancehall and jungle to powerful effect. He’s shared stages with heavyweights including General Levy, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Dead Prez, Lee Scratch Perry and Mad Professor and was resident DJ for the Hootananny Club at Rototom Sunsplash, one of Europe’s finest festivals.
