This year we’re pleased to be introducing a new event series - ‘Patterns curated by’ – an empty canvas of a name that we’ll be using as a vehicle for our favourite artists to curate parties with, whether that implies special guests on the night, an extended set with a particular sound, singular visuals, workshops or a film screening beforehand... the idea and meaning behind the event series will progress and evolve as we invite different artists to express themselves with curation.
So, for the first edition we invite Berlin based talent Avalon Emerson. With top of the crop releases through the likes of Whities, Spectral Sound, Spring Theory & Icee hot, and a reputation for expertly mixing through electric club heat, hypnotic rhythms and dance floor unpredictably, this artist is fast becoming a far-reaching favourite.
From early days of Patterns, her productions and expertly crafted sets have been staple listening in our office, so it comes with great pleasure that we welcome her back to the building, this time to curate four parties with us over the course of 2017.
For the first party, Emerson invites Canadian producer and friend Bwana to the basement, another great selector and the brains behind the Lucky Me released soundtrack of the iconic 1988 anime film Akira. Bwana has also seen releases through Aus Music and Fort Romeau’ Cin Cin imprint, and is an equally muscular force behind the 1’s & 2’s… No pun intended.
