Burning the Clocks is a unique community event created by Same Sky that brings the whole city together to mark the shortest day. Local people make their own paper and willow lanterns and after processing through the city, they pass them into a blazing bonfire on Brighton beach, as a token of the year’s end.
Burning the Clocks is a lively celebration of the turning of the year but also a time for reflection and thought, who are we? Where have we been? Where are we going? What do we want for our City?
To support Burning the Clocks 2016 and purchase your customised lanterns, VIP tickets, limited edition prints by Graham Carter and special experiences on the night visit our crowdfunding page. http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/burning-the-clocks
Whilst Same Sky is recognised by Brighton and Hove Council for the contribution we make to the city and they are kind enough to help us with core costs, Burning the Clocks receives no guaranteed funding and so we rely on crowd funding and the support of local businesses to make sure Burning the Clocks can go ahead each year. We will announce our crowdfunding campaign for this year in Oct 2016.
Everyone is welcome to come along and watch Burning the Clocks but if you’d like to take part in our parade and watch the fireshow, from right at the front, you can purchase a lantern making kit which includes wrist bands to join the parade from around early Novemeber 2016 on wards. We will post all the relevant info to this page as soon as it becomes available.
