#MEGA DC feat:
A dubstep producer and vocalist irreverent enough to pen a tune called Act Like a Ho ( but first do the dishes ), Israeli producer Asaf Borger, aka Borgore, creates a brash, aggressive form of metal-influenced EDM that he refers to as gorestep. Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Borger played drums in a metal band called Shabira, and began producing tracks and remixes under the Borgore handle toward the end of the 2000s. In 2009, he released two online mixtapes (Goresteps Most Hated and Ice Cream Mixtape) and an EP (Gorestep, Vol. 1), and appeared on the 12 EP Viridian released by American label Terminal Dusk. His profile was raised by a spate of 2010 releases that were crude both lyrically and sonically. Ice Cream (featuring Act Like a Ho as a B-side) was issued on Trill Bass and Birthday and the Black November appeared on Audio Freaks, while Borgore Ruined Dubstep and Borgore Ruined Dubstep, Pt. 2 were the first releases on Borger's Buygore label. A fifth Borgore EP, Delicious, was released the following year, while Buygore remained active with other releases from Tomba, Bare, and Bare Noize.Borgore released Filthiest Hits...So Far on Sumerian Records in 2011, and mixed the first disc of Ministry of Sound's Sound of Dubstep compilation that year. Another mix album, Borgore's Misadventures in Dubstep, followed on Buygore in 2012. Several EPs/singles appeared on the label that year as well, including Decisions, which featured guest vocalist Miley Cyrus. He continued to churn out releases and remixes during 2013 and 2014, including many singles and EPs for Spinnin' Records and Dim Mak. He collaborated with Waka Flocka Flame on the 2013 single Wild Out, as his style was increasingly becoming more influenced by trap. Borgore's debut production album, #NEWGOREORDER, appeared on Dim Mak in July 2014. The Buygore Album followed early in 2015, and the year found Borgore collaborating with Addison ( School Daze ) and G-Eazy ( Forbes ), in addition to releasing the Keep It Sexy EP. Continued remix commissions, as well as a batch of singles that included the Barrington Levy collaboration Blast Ya, were scattered across 2016.
Hayden Kramer, better known as Herobust, is a Bass Music Producer from Atlanta, GA. Most notable releases include “Skurt Reynolds” via Mad Decent, “Sheknowshebad” via SMOG, and “Pump This (with Snails)” via Owsla. “I’m Aloud” is Herobust’s latest EP, released via Mad Decent. His new releases will be inspired by Hip - Hop, with plans to include some of the hottest names in Rap music. Hero is touring throughout the US this summer with appearances at EDC NY, Hard Summer Festival, and Imagine Festival to name a few. And recently, Herobust has been commissioned by the likes of Kill The Noise, Barely Alive, and NGHTMRE for official remixes. With time, he garnered the support of Diplo, Skrillex, Bassnectar, Flosstradamus, Destructo and others. This success sent Herobust overseas and on to play showcases for Mad Decent and Buygore during Miami Music Week 2016. Herobust has been featured on BPM Sirius XM, Billboard, Rolling Stone, MTV and many others. YourEDM includes Herobust in their “Top 5 Best Trap Artists 2016” and Insomniac credits him as “one of the hottest voices in the trap-dance movement”. With accolades such as this, he vows not to disappoint with his future releases. If this much is clear, 2016 proves to be a definitive year for Herobust.
Since (quite literally) stepping up to take the spotlight last year, LAXX aka James Churchill has been widely received as the next hottest thing in electronic music. His multi- dimensional sound is slicing through the monochrome array of dance music, leaving a gap for his unique sound to take centre stage. Upon making such a huge impact with his debut release, LAXX is simply teasing the world with what is next in his quest for dance music domination.
Originally Oxford-based, James has absorbed the bright lights and culture of the capital and moved on to much bigger things. Graduating from University with a degree in film, television and music, his original soundtracks also became an instant success, winning awards around the UK and Europe at the key major film festivals.
Since the iconic ‘Step One’ was released through the powerhouse platform Never Say Die Records at the start of 2014, (previous artists to have released on the label include SKisM, Skrillex and Foreign Beggars), the bass scene hasn’t been the same. LAXX has already gained a cult following and status most key players would be lucky to reach in their lifetime, with this only being the start of his journey.
‘Step One’ and follow up EP ‘Step Two’ have fused a perfect balance between underground and mainstream and broken down genre barriers to bring in something current, with a futuristic edge. His sound screams class and exuberance, surrounded by a trademark raw and uncompromising groove. Taking elements from US hip-hop and UK underground music scenes, LAXX creates and delivers something innovative and exciting. The biggest note struck is within his American fan base, whose music tastes are undeniably some of the hardest to crack in the world. Fans instantly clocked on to his explosive sound, raising his profile enormously across the States.
Now with 3 hit releases in the space of 3 months alongside a handful of high profile remixes, LAXX is a key player in the popular music scene, with a lot more to come. ‘Step Three’ is still yet to come and this vastly talented man is showing he isn’t planning on slowing down anytime soon. No boundaries will be left untouched and no music genre is safe from his astounding creativity; LAXX is quite simply taking the music world by storm.
Ray Volpe is one of those producers who isn’t afraid in taking the time to perfect his craft and create his own signature sound. Through his years of dedication as one of the youngest prodigies in bass music, Ray has gathered support from some of the biggest names in dance music including Diplo, Excision, Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, NGHTMRE, Jauz and many more.
The Long Island to Charlotte wunderkind isn’t just a dynamic producer, as Ray is able to flex his talents as a vocalist, which can be heard on some of his original tracks, including the title record from his critically acclaimed EP, Bipolar. Aside from his exceptional original works, Ray has put out official remixes for Getter on OWSLA, GTA, Brillz and others. With all this success at such a young age, the good people at SLVYVLL have added him to their management roster that includes Borgore & Getter.
