Italian Afro-Funk explosion Bengala are coming to Brighton for the last date of their January UK tour.
Hailing from Pisa, Bengala has grown from a percussion and horns ensemble, inspired by legends such as Fela Kuti and Mulatu Astatke, into a searing 10-piece blending afrobeat, polyrhythms and jazz.
This is their first UK outing following the release in December 2016 of their self-titled debut, after several years of touring Italy.
They have played festivals across Italy including THE SOULSIDE FESTIVAL, METAROCK and SCONFINANDO, and have played alongside internationally-acclaimed names including Tuareg guitarist BOMBINO.
The band’s previous incarnation as SONALASTRANA released “COMMUNITY” in 2013 to critical acclaim.
